Oh my, the stock market is crashing harder than WoW on a patchday! (if you get that joke then you’re a geek).
Irony of the week: my blog on time management got delayed because… I was terrible at time management. I spent more time looking for the right image to go with the blog, than writing the blog.

- Web Design: On Essence – Design is about emotion. It took me a while to learn that concept.
- Stones and Pebbles, a Lesson in Time Management – Learning how to manage time efficiently is the key to accomplishing life goals.
Blogs From Elsewhere
- Building better web forms: Validation best practices – As a former asp.net programmer myself, I enjoy Janko’s articles that combine both back-end programming with front-end design.
- The Future of Web Design Galleries – Steven examines the history of web gallery sites, and pounders about their future. With so many gallery sites popping up now, I believe that those who put genuine effort in it will attract the most viewers. Steven also runs the design resource site I frequent, designm.ag
- The Only Two Secrets to Motivating Yourself You’ll Ever Need – A very good article about motivation. I’ve been reading Zen Habits for a while now. It’s not a design related site, but it’s beneficial reading to anyone out there.
- Back To Reality – Andrew Zimmern, the host of my favorite show Bizarre Food, talks about how the current economy is affecting the food industry. P.S. Is it just me, or his blog personality different from his TV one?
Tools
- Validifier – Nick shared this very useful tool in the comment section of my XHTML Strict article from last week. It converts non-compliant flash embedding code to valid XHTML Strict code. Very convenient for embedding videos from sites like Youtube or Vimeo.
Flash
- Hotel 626 – There’s a reason why flash will always have its place on the web. Certain experiences just cannot be achieved by mere CSS/HTML.

FaceYourManga – I’m so not with it. I finally found the site where people make their nifty manga avatars. I made mine.
Sound Cloud
- I registered an account with Sound Cloud during their closed beta. It finally went live today to the public. SC is to sounds tracks what Flickr is to photos, and more. Users can comment on each track, during any interval. It’s great for multiple artists to collaborate, or listen to what their fans have to say.
The 9th Floor
-
The 9th Floor, by Jessica Dimmock is photo documentary at its finest. While I was watching it for the very first time, I was so enticed by it, I literally forgot I was looking at mere still photos. The splendid usage of sound, imagery and somber narration set up the mood and tone, allowing my mind to fill the gap in between each frame.
