Findings 9.19.08

My week started out great, and it’s going to end nicely too. This past weekend, I ended my three month long quest of DSLR camera shopping. Which camera did I end up getting? I’ll write about it next week. It’s truly amazing though, 800 shots taken this week so far. Also, I’m going Niagara Falls this weekend for my wedding anniversary trip. It’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit. Hopefully I’ll take some good photos.

• Photo Studio Under $1 – Back when I was heavily into building plastic models, I had a little homemade photo studio in my apartment for taking nice model photos. I have re-created this set up in the new house for blog photos.
• Dating Your Clients – I’m terrible at giving relationship advice. The last friend I gave advice to called off her engagement. However, I believe in this article, you may find some useful information regarding working with a new client.

StackOverflow

• StackOverflow.com – After five months of hard work, my friend Jeff has finally launched his new community site for programming. I did some very minor CSS work on the site. Still owe him a windows3.5 hotdog stand theme. What is this site about? Well, in his own words,

  I believe what we have — the confluence of wiki, discussion, blog, and reddit/digg ranking systems — is a fair representation of our original vision for Stack Overflow

  So if you have a programming related question, this is the community site to go to. The site launched with some impressive stats: 6,000 answers provided, 1,700 comments, 62,000 unique visitors and almost 700,000 page views on the first day alone.
